Delicate, crumbly, melt-in-your-mouth butter cookies loaded with finely chopped pecans. A timeless cookie jar staple.
Preheat oven to 325°F.
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla and water.
Gradually add flour, mixing until just combined. Fold in pecans.
Shape dough into 1-inch balls and place on ungreased baking sheets. Flatten slightly with a fork.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until edges are just barely golden. Do not overbake.
Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
